Upstairs Beresford Bar Design

Upstairs Beresford, Styled by Sibella Court
My darling boyfriend Simon worked on a project last year for Justin Hemmes' new bar & music venue, Upstairs Beresford in Darlinghurst, Sydney. The interior stylist for this beautiful space was Sibella Court who has written a number of styling books and owns hardware & haberdashery store, The Society Inc. in Paddington.

Simon & Will did various signwriting around the space including blue stencil rugs and orange stencil lettering of famous song titles.

Here are some images of the space. Enjoy!

A couple of weeks ago I attended a workshop that Sibella ran on Commercial Interiors which was held in the Upstairs Beresford.  She explained how all the elements came together in designing this space, and gave some tips on designing commercial spaces.  Sibella is running another workshop on 27 March about Styling v Decorating.

The Propery by Megan Morton

Last week I spent some time styling and setting up Megan Morton's newly relocated Prop Hire shop, The Propery

The shop is set in a newly refurbished warehouse space in Rosebery (in the same building as Koskela furniture.)

Megan Morton also opened the space for her new design school and photographic studio, also available for hire!

Here are a few images of The Propery I helped style, and some of the gorgeous items available for hire!

Project: Studio Signage for Megan Morton

My partner is a professional artist & signwriter, and this week we got the opportunity to work on a new inspiring concept space for the lovely stylist, Megan Morton.

Her newly relocated prop hire shop, The Propery has a new home in Rosebery along with a photographic studio space and design school with workshops for adults & kids!   The building also houses Kitchen by Mike with a daily changing menu and furniture showroom Koskela which I spoke about here.

My partner Simon installed massive clear vinyl sign in the foyer which introduces the space.  Here are some photos of the install.

And here is the final wall with all props attached all ready for the Megan Morton/Koskela/Kitchen by Mike launch tonight!

My partner also handpainted this custom black door sign for the MM offices on a beautiful round canvas and also made a few other signs for the space.

Real Living Magazine: March Styling

This month's Real Living magazine features a shoot that I assisted styling on!  It's a DIY project on making a fabric wallhanging with instructions below:

There's also a video by Stylist Erin Michael on how to make the fabric wallhanging!

Here are some behind-the-scenes pics I took!

Another feature I totally love in this month's edition of the mag
is the 'Smart Storage Solutions'.  Lots of cute and quirky products!  Check out this slideshow for all prop specs.

Budget Designer Finds

A girlfriend of mine asked for some help styling and revamping her Balmain apartment.  Her loungeroom has a huge brown suede chaise lounge which is only a few years old and they collect lots of books and finds from their travels.  She likes geometrics prints but didn't want to spend too much $.

Yesterday I was walking through Target looking for some storage baskets and found the perfect cushions and lampshades for her place!
(They are even on sale this week!)

Blue chevron & geometric cushions $20

Lampshade $15

We're also installing an Ikea expedit shelving unit to match existing furniture, which I can't wait to style with all their colourful books and travel treasures!

Ikea Expedit $189

And some vintage travel posters with blues/whites/yellows in white frames like these above the lounge....

And some books on the coffee table....

Sneek Preview: Koskela

I visited the new Koskela showroom last week in Rosebery which just opened a few days earlier!  They also have an amazing cafe (Kitchen by Mike) just outside the showroom with a great changing menu & coffee as well as stylist Megan Morton's relocated prop shop, The Property & new studio space in the same building! (Which I helped setup - more on that soon!).

Here are some photos of my fave pieces I saw at Koskela!
